The Devlog Below - #5

The open-beta for TDB is almost done-ish, I wanted to talk about how in-game stuff will work like: menus, currency, online communication, and collectibles.

First things first, the open beta will take place on SCRATCH, I don’t feel like paying for a server yet.

Currency: I dislike micro transactions, like a lot, I have done micro transactions( for Minecraft bedrock…I swear ) and just don’t see the appeal for pay to win. That’s why all currency will be achieved through playing the game, or limited time events ( like Halloween or Christmas ).

Menus: Menus aren’t a big deal, but when they are done perfectly they just want you to come back and play again, the menus are much better than my last game ( Balloons N’ Bullets ) with more dynamic menus, and better music. speaking of music, I have found a composer who goes by the name pkhead ( link to neocities: https://pkhead.neocities.org/ ) His work is just so funky, it’s literally what I’ve been looking for.

Communication & Collectables: Scratch has pretty limited ways to communicate, chat rooms get taken down daily, and the ones that are left are buggy and just don’t work. There are projects with chat rooms built in their games, but are limited by using presets. I know I will be able to overpass this when I work on the itch & gamejolt release. Collectables are obtained through playing the game or by everyone’s fav past time…rolling the Gacha! There are Collectable Cards, with hand-drawn art by me and a few others! They are split up into 4 tiers: Common, Rare, Special, and Platinum. The card Gacha is open for 3 free tries and then you gotta convert a few coins into Tokens. ( ex. 15 coins = 1 token ).

That’s all for me. I am really excited for all of you to play! I’ll see you at the open beta, soon!
